Goth cause for difference.
"The beautiful Newstead Abbey in Ravenshead in Nottinghamshire features in the 'Midlands' episode of Restoration, currently showing on Sundays at 9pm on BBC2. The abbey is internationally renowned as the ancestral home of the Romantic poet Lord Byron. The building is featured in his magnum opus 'Don Juan', and is where he is said to have drunk claret from a human skull (said skull, fashioned into a goblet, is still on display there). Even Byron's beloved dog is buried in the grounds. "
could it be that UK goths actually have something worthwhile to fight for beyond the right to party?
"In the 1990's the now defunct Vampyre Society held regular events there. Mediums, psychics and dowsers claim that Byron's presence is still there."
It would seem that an iconic gothic poet's home is at risk. The big question is - will any-one actually care?

Greetings
A largesse hello first to the members of smelly our mum dot com who have sent visitors to the blog every day for three days straight.
Seems Voices have some new fans...
In other news I want to tell you when the new album will be out but Rob might not forgive me if I broke confidence so... bollocks it might happen this year all things being equal. I hope that doesn't break any confidences.
"Soon" - That's the official time scale and it's fairly accurate too!
For the next months Voices will be gigging every other weekend and it seem they will be for the foreseeable future. This makes getting together with the guitarist for beer a bastard but needs must as the devil drives.
See netgoth for the gig locations and times. (or the voices website)
oh ok then:
Sat, 14th Aug 04: Undying Legacy + Voices of Masada (Portsmouth, Hampshire) - Undying Legacy + Voices of Masada perform live @ the Horseshoe
Fri, 27th Aug 04: The Voices Of Masada + 9 X DEAD (Stoke, Staffordshire) - The Voices Of Masada with Support from 9 X DEAD
Don't say I never do anything for you lazy newsreading types! (only joking guys)
In other news Ramsgate's only real "goth club" (if you can call it that) - the Lido - is under threat of being pulled down and being replaced by a hotel. A new planning permission application has been filed and it seems that time is running out for the goths of Thanet's three towns (Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate) to find a new joint to hang out at.
I keep meaning to give the game away on the places on the web where you can hang out and chat to voices but hell I'll do that another time but for those of you with time on your hands check yahoo groups and just search Google.
until later.
: What?
