Dark days for Goths
Dark days for Goths: "The Goth subculture is not the first youth movement to be misunderstood by the general public. Skinheads have been stereotyped for decades. Because news reports and TV shows typically portray skinheads as racists or neo-Nazis, many people are unaware that the traditional skinhead culture that began in the late 1960s had nothing to do with race, and everything to do with working-class pride. This holds true today. There are skinheads of all ethnicities, gay and straight, and organized groups of SHARPs (Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice) that span the globe."

Times Online - Entertainment
Times Online - Entertainment: "...although few break down the tribes as explicitly as The Breakfast Club, in which the brain, the jock, the princess, the weirdo and the goth are painted in primary colours. Those in the Breakfast Club's clannish genre - Mean Girls or Heathers, to name but two - seem the most terrifying of all. Navigating your way through a US education looks more emotionally complicated than the average royal divorce."
All I can say is thank-god-I-am-British because the US seems to suck more than I ever imagined. (OK, flames begin; I guess.)

I think we can always spot insincere sincerity when we see it. What exactly do they want from us?
